C'est le ton qui fait la musique
Description: Music notes with faces
Kenneth Alexander was a photographer for United Artists, 20th Century Studios and Samuel Goldwyn Productions. He was known for his celebrity portraiture, photographing such stars as Marlene Dietrich.
Kenneth Alexander's career divided into three phases. This photo most likely derives from his performing arts portraiture period, from 1917 to 1926, where he combined the artistry of posing of his earlier work with the expertise at deploying artificial light in studio sittings of Baron DeMeyer.

The condition of a photograph generally, but not always, affects the overall value of the work. In early photography, condition issues are to be expected given the age of the print.
Press prints, by their nature, were handled more than fine-art prints because of their use for disseminating information, which explains why they may have more creases.
